I've read in several places now about automatic VM startup and shutdown being disabled for VMs in a HA cluster. In my 5.1 lab I've always been able to do this, so looked up the official documentation here: http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-51/topic/com.vmware.ICbase/PDF/vsphere-esxi-vcenter-server-51-availability-guide.pdf
"NOTE: The Virtual Machine Startup and Shutdown (automatic startup) feature is disabled for all virtual machines residing on hosts that are in (or moved into) a vSphere HA cluster. Automatic startup is not supported when used with vSphere HA."
In my lab I have two hosts in a HA cluster, i can shutdown one host, the VMs shutdown with it, then start up the host, the VMs startup with it and host is reconfigured for HA?
Can anyone explain this for me, thanks
